Project Meeting Warsaw, Poland

Last week, the Athletes4Society consortium held a two-day meeting in Warsaw, Poland. For the first time throughout the project, we had the chance to meet the whole consortium in real life! On the 12th of September, our Polish partners gave us a warm welcome in their city. After a nice welcome dinner, with typical Polish dishes, all partners were ready to have an intensive yet productive meeting.

Main points on the agenda were the progress of the development of the Athletes4Society toolkit and bootcamp, the A4S challenge and award, and the preparations regarding the final international conference in May in Brussels, Belgium. Furthermore, the Athletes4Society consortium, with the Institute for Sport Governance as lead, hosted their first physical MSE congress (second MSE of the project) on helping organisations in managing their societal impact.

We are particularly grateful to our guests-speakers: dr Katarzyna Kopeć-Ziemczyk of Polska Agencja Antydopingowa POLADA, who discussed outreach programms of the organisation where it partners with athletes and Jacek Purski of the Institute of Social Safety (IBS) who spoke about athletes as role models in the context of UEFA Euro 2012 and beyond.

We made some important steps in the context of our project and are really enthusiastic about and motivated for taking the next and final steps within our project.

In order to ensure we keep up the good work, the consortium will meet again online on the 10th of November and the 12th of January, followed by a physical meeting in the beautiful Lisbon.
